The fishing has been great in Manistee but the locations and techniques have been changing on a regular basis. The harbor was on fire for a few days after we had some cold water blow into shore. Steelhead fishing has been the best we have seen in years but you need travel to find them. The best action has been west of the 36 line and some have been fishing as far as the 43 line. You need to kick up your speed a little and focus on the top 20 feet of water. Red and Orange spoons are best. The shelf has been tough on the calm sunny days but there are fish around. The temp break has been down around 50 foot. A big hootch fished below the break has been good. Spoons are also taking fish. If you aren't finding fish on the shelf your best bet is to head west. Good numbers of fish were taken in 250 - 300 foot of water yesterday. Keep an eye on the harbor if today's northwest winds keep up for a while.
