Today's trip was a tough one. Lots of fish from 105-125 feet of water mostly near the bottom and the only fish feeding were high. The dawn bite was 22-25 feet down over 115 feet of water and later in the morning it moved down to 50 feet. The waves were high and building. Our fish came on Grey ghost Glow J plugs early and Stingers Glow Ghost later. We went 5 for 7. Not to bad on such a windy day. There are lots of fish staging in the 100 foot plus range. We have Charter captains available if you want to still take part in this years fishing. It is not too early to book next year's trip. Call the Visitors center at 877 6264783 and have them find you a MAC Captain for a wonderful charter. One call and we do the rest. |

Fishing out of Manistee and Onekama remains pretty good with a mixture of large Kings, to 20 pounds and medium size (6-12 pound) fish. Coho and steelhead are also starting to show. Glow plugs and spoons early and on overcast days are working well. The fish have been everywhere from the upper 45 feet in Manistee over 20 - 195 feet of water to 70 & 80 feet out of Onekama in 150- 175 feet of water. We fished from the 12's to the 9's today in 85- 120 feet of water. We went 6 for 12. The most productive spoons were Stingers Yellow Tail & Nbk's in Magnum size on 7 1\2& 10 color lead and riggers with Glow plugs at 45 & 55 down along with the Large white Fish Catcher & Aqua Gold Fly down 101 over 110 feet. The fish are a little smaller on average on the shelf then they were a week ago. Coho & Steelhead are now starting to show up.
There are larger fish in front of the Manistee Harbor.Create great memories on Lake Michigan. Call the Visitors center at 877 6264783 and have them find you a MAC Captain for a wonderful charter. One call and we do the rest. |

We fished straight out of Manistee setting lines at 6:25 and did not catch our first fish till 7:30am. Some captains had a good morning catching 8-12 fish while others struggled with 5 or so. Spoons worked best for us with 5- 12 color lead providing most of the action. The most productive spoons were Stingers Lemon Ice, Blue Dolphin and Wonder Bread in Magnum and regular size. We went 8 for 14. The fish were 25-50 feet down. We fished from 65-350 feet of water and did better in the deep water. Create great memories on Lake Michigan. Fishing was good this morning for a lot of our captains. This one not included. We got a little bit of a late start and started in 75 feet of water and went out as far as 170. We caught our first fish at 7am and 6 fish later caught our 6th and last Salmon at 8:10am all on Large White Fish Catchers and the Aqua Gold Glow fly. The other captains I talked to had a very good morning catching fish on every thing from Slide Divers and Spoons back 100-150 feet. Meat Rigs off both Dipseys 125\3 back and Down Riggers down 65 & 70 feet and spoons and plugs off 10 color lead along with the same type Large white fish catchers we were using. The fish seemed to be from the 14's south in 70 - 165 feet of water. Create great memories on Lake Michigan. Fishing picked up this morning after a slow labor day morning. Perhaps because of less pressure on the fish.We fished this morning in the 20- 40 foot depths and pulled lines at 10:30 with 12 fish. The bad news was 4 of the fish were Sheepshead. Two of them large enough to qualify for master angler awards. Captains fishing the 80-165 foot depths had 8-12 fish by 11:30. The thermo cline is down to 65 feet or so. There seem to be lots of fish out there. It will be fun when they turn back on. Spoons worked in the shallow water. NBK's, Yellow tails and Wonder Breads all working off 3, 5 & 6 color lead. Slide Dipseys set back 125\2 with small a white Fish catchers and Aqua gold flies along with a large white fish catcher and a Blue\green fly set at 65' down off riggers in the deeper water all producing.Onekama still has lots of fish in the barrel north of the harbor and the shallows are still holding fish. Continued high pressure and rapidly changing water temperature has caused the bite to slow down some out of Manistee. The boats fishing the 30- 40 foot depths had up to four fish by 9:30 and the Captains fishing the 80-200 had 7-8 fish by 11:30. The thermo cline had dropped down to 65 feet or so on the shelf. There were lots of fish out there that were not actively feeding causing lots of missed fish spoons worked in the shallow water with 10 color lead and Blue magnum Dolphins, Dipseys set back 160\2 with small a white Fish catchers and Aqua gold flies along with a large white fish catcher and a Blue\green fly set at 65' in the deeper water all producing. Onekama still has lots of fish in the barrel north of the harbor with 5-6 fish on average being caught this morning. Create great memories on Lake Michigan.
