It was another great day to be enjoying Lake Michigan! The fishing was great today but we had to work harder to find them. We started out in 30 FOW in the mid 13's. This area had been excellent as recently as the night before but the water had warmed and the fish were nowhere to be found. A lot of boats were set up inside of me right on the beach and catching a few but we opted to pull lines and run to the shelf. We set up again in 100 FOW in the 13's had hit fish good for about an hour. Ultra glow spoons and J plugs took fish on the riggers set 40 - 70 down. Also took fish on three, five and ten colors of leadcore pulling plugs and spoons (NBK, Green Hornet and Hey Baby). After things slowed, we trolled out to 260 FOW and all the way back into 60 FOW. Picked a few fish along the way both deep and shallow. I talked to a couple boats who fished 100 -125 in the 10's and 11's who reported very nice catches of adults. Our fish today included a mix of adults and younger fish. Many Captains still have openings this season so it is not too late to call. It is also not too early to reserve your date for next season. Our river guides will soon be hitting the Big Manistee. If you have not tried river fishing you should consider it. It is an excellent way to spend a beautiful fall day outdoors. |

Manistee fishing remains very good. The fish were hitting in 125-165 feet on most everything from large & small white Fish catchers and Aqua Gold Glow flies, Stinger magnum and regular spoons and plugs. The Dipseys set at 2, 80-100 back, in the morning went well with small white Fish catchers and glow flies. Jay plugs in an ivory and wonder bread glow color worked well again. Riggers were going from 45-65 down. Onekama was doing very good in the 150' water on Blue Spin-doctor and Blue bubble flies along with spoons. |

The winds were blowing strong out of the east. Water temperature just south of the pier head 63 degrees. I thought I would try close to shore and keep my customers comfortable for the first hour or so. We went 18 for 22 by 11am and stayed in the calm water 23-35 feet deep. 3, 5, 6&7 color lead & downriggers 10-20 down all went well. # 3&4 J's Stinger Scorpion size spoons and Magnum NBK's along with Moonshine lures all went well. The lemon ice spoons and size 3 & 4 Jay plugs in an ivory and wonder bread color worked well also. Riggers were going from 25-45 early and down to 65 later. Create great memories on Lake Michigan. Light winds this morning and the thermo cline around 35 feet in Manistee and south and 45-50 feet out of Onekama. Manistee fishing slowed a little but still very good and Onekama's fishing picked up from yesterday. Reports from Onekama were that spoons and the Green Hornet Magnum at 50 feet were hot. I fished the 18 - 35 feet at first light just south of Manistee and picked up 4 Salmon before going out to the shelf around 7am. There were lots of fish in the shallow water but few takers. We found the fish outside in 50-60 feet of water in the 13's with some captains doing well in the 95-125 water. J plugs, Spoons and small white fish catchers all seemed to work. Sister sledge in the standard size went 4 times for us. Create great memories on Lake Michigan. Call the Visitors center at 877 6264783 and have them find you a MAC Captain for a wonderful charter. |

Light winds this morning and the thermo cline still around 35 feet. We hit fish from 25' to 45 feet down. I fished from the 14s to the 11s. Fishing was tougher today we went 10 for 17 using a large Fish catcher down 45 feet as an attractor and it did catch 2 fish using Aqua gold flies and a special white fly a friend made for me that we donated to the fish early. We caught a few on magnum Stinger spoons off 3 color lead in Wonder bread and Blue Dolphin colors. The fishing north slowed down considerable with 5 fish the average. The water temperature was in the low 60's near shore. That would be a great place to try. Create great memories on Lake Michigan. I fished from the 14s to the 9s and hit fish all the way with 4 on at one time. .J plugs and Canadian plugs are starting to work along with magnum spoons and Fish catchers.
